Part 1 The Genealogy Gems Podcast: Roots Ireland

Ireland genealogy research is very difficult and this site may help us Irish decendants to finally find our Irish roots as the government records were burned.

My father, his siblings, my father's parents come from Ireland and research in Ireland is so limited so finally this is hope for us descendants to finally find our ancestors who are Irish!

Christmastime

Christmastime is a wonderful holiday to celebrate with our families and friends. Let us all remember that Jesus Christ is the reason for the season.

I would like to share this quote with you:

God's Gift

"Christmas gifts? There were none at that time. The Wise Men came later with their offering."

"But God now gave His gift to the world-

that of His Only Begotten Son. And this divine Son by His very birth gave Himself as the greatest Gift of all time."

"He would provide the plan for our salvation. He would give His life that we might rise from the grave and have a happy life in the eternities, forever. Who could give more?"

"What a gift this was think what it means to us! We can learn patience, devotion, and faithfulness such a Mary had. And like her Son we can follow the true gospel principles, being in the world but not of the world."

(Mark E. Peterson, "His Gift to the World, "New Era, Dec 2002, 8)

Me and my family would like to wish you all a very "MERRY CHRISTMAS & A HAPPY NEW YEAR!"

Christmas Gifts - Gift Ideas

1. High School Yearbooks - copy photos of your family members through their high school years and then copy them onto 1 page frame it or put it into a clear protector sheet and give it to them for a historical Christmas gift.

2. Old letters - scan and copy old letters from family members and give them a copy. My father died and I have a copy of his handwriting which I cherish seeing the paper I have with his handwriting on as it helps me think about him.

3. Family Birthdays List - make a list of all the family members birthdays. Sent the list as a gift to help the family remember all the birthdays of brothers, sisters, cousins, aunts, uncles, etc.

Christmas gifts - Ideas #3

Here's another list of unique family gifts to give to a family member who loves genealogy or someone who has everything. They will appreciate a gift with a lot of meaning to them or their family.

1. Census Enumerations - Some census records are available online of your family, your parents, your grandparents, etc. Photocopy this and place it in a notebook or binder. I use clear plastic protector sheets to put them in. You can give a gift of many census records and divide the different family apart with dividers and place them into a binder and wrap it up for the family member. Sometimes the census records has their family members, friends on it as well that they were close to while growing up. It will give them many memories of their past.

2. Military Histories - I was able to get the military history of my father and my Uncle who both fought in WW11 from the Canadian gov't as well as my great grandfather's military records as he fought in WW1. You can contact the gov't for the papers about their service in the wars, go to local libraries if in the civil war, etc. Get photos, military metals, discharge papers, awards, etc of the family member who served. Place the papers in plastic protector sheets in a binder. It's a wonderful gift.

3. Photographs - Restore or reprint ancestral photos for family members, wedding pictures, childhood photos, etc for your family members. They are priceless gifts!
